Meet some of the people who are responsible for leading genesis.
We believe in the “priesthood of all believers” which is an ancient way of saying that we’re all called to care for and reflect God to each other. Every one of us has the potential of being a conduit of God’s love and grace to others. We enthusiastically affirm the full equality of women and men in every area of leadership and ministry.
Chances are you’ll find Wil in a coffee shop in North Park writing a sermon. He has a passion for opening scripture up to be heard in new and creative ways. Wil and his wife, Amy, love taking their boys Corbyn and Hudson exploring.
Charlie is both a pastor and an artist. If it has to do with the intersection of creative arts and the liturgical life of the church it’s Charlie’s jam. When he’s not catching up on the latest episode of the Walking Dead, Charlie enjoys going to the beach with his wife, Kara, and daughter Zoe.
Diane is a San Diego native, who loves art, a good cup of coffee, being outdoors, and being with people she loves! Diane has worked with a variety of youth programs and ministries in the San Diego area, focusing with ages 2-15. She desires for kids to feel included, valued, and to know the love of Christ.
When Becky isn’t enjoying her life living and working in the City Heights community, she’s probably either watching one of her four children’s field hockey/basketball/lacrosse games or taking a walk with her husband, Kevin, and puppy Truman through a neighborhood canyon, Balboa Park, or Mission Trails. She loves wrestling with God’s word and hosting people, with her family, in their home for dinner or dessert. Drop by anytime!
While Julius grew up always moving from place to place, he is grateful to call San Diego his home. His passion for music is complemented by his fascination with the art of storytelling. For Julius, music has the ability to stir us to an awareness of God’s beauty and creativity, but also serves as a means of telling the story of God and God’s people. By engaging in simple acts of quality time such as making meals together or shooting hoops, Julius seeks to make people feel at home.
Melissa is a San Diego native and wife to her junior high sweetheart. She’s always on the go with her family of four. In her free time, you’ll find her taking a trip to the zoo or Mission Bay, enjoying a good cup of coffee, or at home playing a competitive game of Uno. Alongside her husband Polo, she is dedicated to building up her family with a heart for others.
Forrest grew up in Carlsbad, CA. He’s a gifted musician adept at many instruments. Forrest is our resident tech-head at Genesis. If you plug it in, chances are he knows how to take it apart and rebuild it. When Forrest isn’t rebuilding a gadget you can usually find him serving others by fixing their car troubles.
Although San Diego is not her first home, Sam has grown to love the culture and people of North Park. If she’s not occupied with some crafty project she can likely be found floating in the ocean or breaking bread with a friend. As the Worship Arts Assistant at Genesis she is responsible for creating a space that welcomes all.
